A single-stage regulator reduces tank pressure directly to the appliance pressure. It is suitable for small to medium loads. A two-stage system uses a first-stage regulator (high pressure) and a second-stage regulator (low pressure) to provide extremely stable output even as tank pressure fluctuates. For industrial applications with varying demand, we recommend a two-stage high pressure LPG regulator to avoid flame flicker.
Add up the total BTU/hr of all connected appliances (you can find this on the nameplate). Then multiply by 1.25 to add a safety margin. For example, if your total load is 800,000 BTU/hr, choose a regulator with at least 1,000,000 BTU/hr capacity.
