Why Standard Backflow Prevention Costs Your Facility Time & Money

⚠️

Contamination Liability

A single backflow event can introduce chemicals, sewage, or debris into your potable supply. US EPA fines start at $2,500/day for non-compliance.

💸

Hidden Valve Failure Costs

Low-quality check valves fail silently. Average downtime cost: $4,700/hour in a mid-size processing plant. Plus emergency plumbing fees.

📦

Oversized Inventory & Long Lead Times

US suppliers often quote 8–12 weeks for specialty double check valves. You stock more, wait longer, and pay premium freight.

🔧

Installation & Maintenance Headaches

Poorly machined valves require adapters, extra threading, and frequent rebuilds. 30% of maintenance calls trace back to valve fit and seal issues.

📋

Complex Certification Maze

ASSE 1015, CSA B64, USC FCCCHR — each project requires specific approvals. One wrong spec can delay commissioning by 6 weeks.

🌐

Supply Chain Uncertainty

Port congestion, tariff shifts, and raw material volatility make US-sourced valves 15–25% more expensive than 3 years ago — with no end in sight.

These aren't hypothetical — we hear these exact issues from 8 out of 10 new US clients. There's a better way.

Frequently Asked Questions About Double Check Valve Backflow

What is a double check valve backflow preventer and how does it work?

A double check valve backflow preventer uses two independently operating check valves (spring-loaded or poppet-style) to stop reverse flow. If the first check fails, the second provides backup. It's the most common type for low-to-medium hazard applications under ASSE 1015 and USC FCCCHR standards. At Thriveon, we design ours with splittable bodies for easy in-line maintenance.

What's the difference between a double check valve and a reduced pressure zone (RPZ) valve?

Both prevent backflow, but the RPZ includes a pressure differential relief valve that discharges water if the zone pressure drops — offering higher protection for high-hazard fluids. Double check valves are suitable for potable water, irrigation, and non-toxic fluids. RPZ is required for chemical/biological hazards. We manufacture both; our team can help you choose the right assembly based on your local code.

How do I know which size double check valve I need for my project?

Sizing depends on flow rate (GPM) and pipe diameter. A simple rule: match the valve size to your pipe diameter, but ensure flow velocity stays between 2–8 ft/s. For 100 GPM, a 2" valve works; for 400 GPM, go with 4". We provide sizing sheets and can do a free system review if you share your flow and pressure data. Submit a quick inquiry and we'll respond within 2 hours.

Do your double check valves meet ASSE 1015 and USC FCCCHR standards?

Yes — all our standard double check assemblies are certified to ASSE 1015, CSA B64, and USC FCCCHR. We also offer NSF 61 certification for potable water. Each valve is serialized and comes with a certified test report. 3rd-party testing via SGS or Intertek is available at cost.

Can I get custom flange drilling or special materials?

Absolutely. We offer full OEM/ODM capabilities: custom flange drilling (ANSI, DIN, JIS), special trims (316SS, Monel, Hastelloy), different elastomers (EPDM, NBR, Viton), and threaded/grooved ends. Minimum custom order is 50 units. Lead time for custom runs: 30–45 days. Send us your spec sheet and we'll quote within 48 hours.

What is your typical lead time and shipping cost to the USA?

Standard lead time: 25 days CIF to Houston, Los Angeles, or Newark. Express air freight: 7 days (cost varies). Shipping cost for a 40' container (approx. 800 units of 2"–4" valves) to Houston is ~$3,800–$4,500 — much lower than domestic freight for equivalent volume. We handle all customs documentation; your cost is all-inclusive until port of entry.

What warranty do you offer on double check valves?

We provide a 5-year warranty against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. Extended 7-year warranty available for large-volume contracts. In the unlikely event of a field failure, we ship a replacement immediately and handle the claim directly — no back-and-forth with distributors. Our failure rate is <0.3% as verified by 3rd-party audits.

How do I place an order and what payment terms do you accept?

Order process: Send inquiry → receive quote → approve proforma invoice → 30% deposit → production → final payment → shipment. We accept T/T wire transfer, L/C at sight, and for established relationships — net 30 terms (up to $50,000). We also accept PayPal for samples up to $1,000. Contact our sales team to get started.
