What is the difference between a wafer check valve and a double flange check valve?

A wafer check valve is sandwiched between two pipeline flanges and relies on compression for sealing, making it lighter and more compact. A double flange check valve has its own integral flanges, bolting directly to the pipe flanges. It also allows the valve to be removed without disturbing the upstream/downstream piping.
