Install the water source brass foot valve vertically at the bottom of the suction pipe, with the strainer end pointing downward. Ensure the valve is fully submerged at least 12 inches below the water level to prevent vortex formation. Use PTFE tape on NPT threads and tighten to standard torque — do not overtighten as brass can crack. Leave at least ¼" clearance between the strainer and the well bottom to avoid clogging.
