A foot valve is a specialized check valve installed at the bottom of a suction line. It includes a built-in strainer that prevents debris from entering the pump, and it maintains pump prime when the system is off. A standard check valve only prevents backflow, but lacks a strainer and is not designed for submerged installation. Our PVC foot valve combines both functions for vertical pump applications.

Match the valve size to your suction line diameter. For pumps up to 2 HP (1.5 kW), a 1" or 1.25" valve is typical. For larger pumps (5–10 HP), use a 2" to 3" valve.
