What is a gas non return valve and how does it work?
A gas non return valve (also called a check valve) automatically prevents the reverse flow of gas in a pipeline. It relies on the flow itself to open the disc, and when flow stops or reverses, the disc closes tightly due to spring force or gravity. This protects compressors, meters, and downstream equipment from damage.
Dual plate vs swing check for natural gas: which is better?
Dual plate (wafer) check valves are lighter, more compact, and produce less water hammer due to short disc stroke. They are ideal for gas systems where space is at a premium. Swing checks are more robust for large-diameter, high-flow lines but require more space and can slam shut. Both are offered by Thriveon in full compliance with API 6D.
