Result: Your pump systems have reduced efficiency, your maintenance costs are up, and your operations team is frustrated. But it doesn't have to be this way.
At Thriveon Valve, we engineer our foot valves to outperformed the toughest US standards. Every valve we ship includes a detailed foot valve installation diagram and material traceability report.
How it works (refer to the diagram above): When the pump starts, water flows upward through the strainer (A), lifting the poppet (C) off the seat (B). The stainless steel spring (D) compresses. When the pump stops, the spring and water weight push the poppet firmly onto the seat, creating a perfect seal. The flanged end (E) connects directly to your pump suction pipe. The strainer (A) prevents debris from entering your system.

A check valve prevents backflow at any point in the pipeline. A foot valve specifically sits at the bottom of the pump suction line (usually submerged in water) and includes a built-in strainer to filter debris. The foot valve diagram always shows a strainer at the bottom, which is the key visual difference.
Focus on three elements: 1) The direction of flow (arrow on body) must point UP towards the pump. 2) The strainer should be submerged at least 12" below the water surface to prevent vortexing. 3) Ensure the flanged or threaded connection matches your pipe schedule. Our diagrams include a detailed bill of materials.
Absolutely. We regularly supply 12" and 14" flanged foot valves for vertical turbine pumps. Custom options include dual screens, higher spring tension, and special coatings (epoxy, zinc). Just share your foot valve diagram or pump specs.
For residential wells (≤ 4"), a stainless steel 316 foot valve is ideal for corrosion resistance and longevity. For industrial wastewater or fire protection systems, a cast iron body with a 304 SS internal spring and NBR seal offers the best cost-to-performance ratio.
For equivalent quality (ISO 9001, AWWA C508), Chinese factory-direct prices are typically 35-50% lower than US-branded valves. However, low-quality Chinese valves can be 60% cheaper. Thriveon positions itself in the premium tier, using certified materials and 100% testing to ensure US job site compliance.
Lead time is 15-25 working days for standard stock items. Shipping a 40ft container (approx. 15,000 pcs of 2" valves) costs around $2,500-$4,000 to the West Coast. We recommend ordering 6-8 weeks ahead for large projects to secure sea freight.
Yes. We are a dedicated OEM manufacturer for several US pump companies. We can produce your exact design with your branding. Minimum order for custom casting is typically 200-500 pcs, depending on size.
We offer a standard 18-month warranty on materials and workmanship. For recurring US buyers, we offer a 24-month extended warranty. We also have a representative in Houston who can handle urgent field issues.
"We needed a reliable foot valve supplier for our Arizona agricultural irrigation project. Thriveon provided full CAD diagrams and material certs. The price was 38% lower than our domestic distributor. We ordered 600 stainless steel foot valves for 6" lines. They arrived on time and worked perfectly."
— Mike D., Senior Procurement Manager, Southwest Irrigation Solutions (USA)
Annual Contract Value: $48,000
"Thriveon's ability to customize the foot valve diagram for our specific pump model was outstanding. We needed an extended spring for deep well applications. They prototyped it in 10 days and shipped production in 30 days. The quality is on par with our previous German supplier."
— Sarah K., Technical Director, PetroWater Tech (Canada)
Special Project: 10" Ductile Iron Flanged Foot Valves
"I was skeptical about buying flanged foot valves from China due to past quality issues. But Thriveon's ISO 9001 certification and detailed factory audit convinced us. We tested 10 units for hydrostatic and leakage — zero defects. Now they are our go-to supplier for cast iron valves."
